Haley Spangler Bower, M.S.
Director of Animal Welfare Auditing and Training
Haley Spangler Bower was born and raised in Illinois and attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. After earning her B.S. in Animal Sciences, she accepted a position as a graduate research assistant and joined Dr. Carl Parsons’ Poultry Nutrition Laboratory. During her time in graduate school, Haley managed several laying hen, chick, rooster, and broiler trials, and managed the nutrition laboratory of several graduate students. In addition, Haley was a lead teaching assistant where she taught animal agriculture principles in class room and farm settings. Her M.S. in Poultry Nutrition focused her research on determining the lysine requirement in laying hens using two different titration methodologies.
After graduation, Haley began working as a Laboratory and Research Manager for Dr. Hans Stein, an Animal Science professor and monogastric nutritionist at the University of Illinois. Haley was responsible for managing and working with weanling, growing, finishing and digestibility swine research projects, laboratories and a staff of assistants.
Haley joined Farm Animal Care Training and Auditing (FACTA; www.factallc.com; a division of Frost, PLLC; www.frostpllc.com) in 2016. At FACTA, Haley utilizes her poultry and swine technical and husbandry expertise to conduct animal welfare audits Haley continues to advance her expertise in auditing poultry and swine systems, in addition to all species of livestock production.
Haley resides in Naperville, Illinois where she lives with her husband and enjoys spending time with their family and friends.
